The Poppy' Pendant Necklace
"Summer set lip to earth's bosom bare,
And left the flushed print in a poppy there:
Like a yawn of fire from the grass it came,
And the fanning wind puffed it to flapping flame."
. . .By Francis Thompson
Inspiration for this design was the beautiful large focal by Angelika Kaufmann featuring red poppies. Where I live in California, red poppies grow wild in a riot of color sprinkled thru the hillsides. I've paired the pendant with little nuggets of coral, lovely chartreuse freshwater coin pearls and brass and bronze findings. Notice the whimsical snail edging its way along the strand and the lovely clasp. Both fine castings from artist, Anna Chernykh. 20" long without pendant and tassel
